While Dodge was all macho during the Super Bowl, the company reversed course by unveiling the limited-edition Challenger Furious Fuchsia.
Created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Challenger, the Furious Fuchsia boasts a retro pink paint job, unique 20-inch aluminum wheels, and a chrome four-tailpipe exhaust system (the R/T comes with a two tailpipes). Inside, Dodge installed pearl white leather seats, a serialized dash plaque (in the SRT8), and a 'pistol-grip' shifter for cars equipped with a manual transmission.
Under the hood, the Challenger R/T Classic is powered by a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 376 hp (280 kW / 381 PS) and 410 lb-ft (556 Nm) of torque. On the other hand, the Challenger SRT8 features 6.1-liter HEMI V8 with 425 horsepower (317 kW / 431 PS) and 420 lb-ft (569 Nm) of torque.
According to Ralph Gilles, President and CEO of Dodge, "Commemorating four decades of Challenger performance, the new R/T Classic and SRT8 Furious Fuchsia editions modernize one of the most memorable hues from 1970 to create a modern muscle-car that exudes more performance, passion and even more nostalgia. As an ode to our Dodge fans, these highly collectible models feature all-new Pearl White leather performance seats with Furious Fuchsia accents to deliver a customized, yet contemporary look to the heritage-inspired interior. Sum it all up, and Dodge is delivering a muscle-car tribute that no other manufacturer can even match."
Set to go on sale in March, the Furious Fuchsia Dodge Challenger R/T Classic will be priced from $35,140, while the SRT8 model starts at $45,150. Both include a $725 destination charge.
