2006 Honda Civic Si Torque
It would be the perfect warm hatchback.
Honda revealed the latest generation of one of its core models, the Civic, earlier this year. First impressions of the sedan and hatchback have been a bit mixed. We expect that they'll be even better to drive and more advanced than before, but the somewhat muted makeover on the outside has left the motoring fraternity a bit overwhelmed. Fortunately, the sportier Civic Si and Type R are on the way to remedy this. The Type R was spied not too long ago but until the sportier Civics are officially revealed, we'll have to make do with an aesthetic upgrade from Honda tuners like Mugen. The company has just revealed its aggressive body kit for the new Civic hatchback.

More Civic Si than Civic Type R, Mugen's changes include 18-inch forged aluminum wheels and the addition of black trim for the wing mirrors, the lower lip, and the more aggressive side sills. At the back, there is a rear spoiler that strikes a perfect balance between subtlety and aggression, while new exhaust tips on either side of the body are fitted. These have an oval shape. Also at the back, there is a unique rear fascia design. Like the new Civic hatch, Mugen's design includes a mesh-effect grille that replaces the more conservative grille found on the sedan.

Mugen mentioned that a sports exhaust system will be available. However, no pricing has yet been indicated. This will follow on September 3 when the official announcement of the upgrade will take place. We think the tuner has done a decent job of adding some subtle sportiness to the Civic and we particularly like this white example, which offsets the black trim nicely.
If you'd prefer to wait for the real deal, the new Civic Type R is expected to go on sale sometime next year. The Civic Si sedan is expected to arrive before the end of the year. With no Si version of the Civic hatchback on the cards, Mugen's kit is the perfect answer.
